3 Day Marrakech to Merzouga Itinerary
Times vary with traffic, weather and stops. The descriptions below are a practical guide, not a rigid timetable.
Day 1: Marrakech → Aït Ben Haddou → Dades Valley
Depart Marrakech in your private vehicle and climb through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Stop at viewpoints when road and weather conditions allow, then continue to Aït Ben Haddou and take time to explore the historic earthen ksar.
Continue past Ouarzazate, Skoura and the Valley of Roses toward the Dades Valley. On arrival, check in at the selected hotel and settle in for your first night.
Day 2: Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Merzouga
Leave the Dades Valley and travel through Tinghir to Todra Gorge, where you can walk beneath the high limestone walls. Continue through the desert towns of Erfoud and Rissani as the landscape opens toward Merzouga.
At Erg Chebbi, meet the camel team and ride across the dunes around sunset before reaching the desert camp. Dinner is served at camp, followed by time beneath the Sahara sky; a vehicle transfer can be requested instead of the camel ride.
Day 3: Merzouga → Marrakech
Wake early to see the Sahara sunrise when conditions allow, return from camp and have breakfast before leaving Merzouga. This is the longest driving day of the tour and takes most of the day, with practical breaks arranged along the route.
Continue through Rissani and Ouarzazate, then cross the High Atlas Mountains on the way back to Marrakech. Arrival is normally in the evening, depending on traffic, road and weather conditions.
